| Matkalla Bitungista Lembehille - Going from Bitung to Lembeh |
Eikä minulla rehellisesti edes ollut kamalasti aikaa Manadossa muuhun, kuin asioiden hoitoon. Nyt alkukuusta otin pari päivää vapaata ja lähdin yhdeksi yöksi Lembehin saarelle!
On the way back we saw a school of dolphins. We stopped there for a while just to adore the dolphins playing around the boat! That absolutely made the trip perfect! Check out the video in the Finnish text!
I'm not saying theres something wrong with Bunaken, but now I'm waiting for my next opportunity to get somewhere off the islad again. Maybe next time I'll go to Lembeh for diving!

| Jättimäinen Tarsius - Huge Tarsius |
Reissun alusta saakka olen puhunut, että haluan käydä muuallakin kuin Bunakenilla ja Manadossa. Living Coloursin baarimikko ja yleismies jantunen Yandi on kotoisin Lembehin saarelta ja hän ehdotti jo aikaisemmin, että voisin lähteä mukaan, kun hän on menossa sinne perhettään tapaamaan.
Niinpä me sitten lähdettiin reissuun nyt marraskuun alussa. Ensin meidän piti matkata Manadosta Bitungiin, jonne on vajaan kahden tunnin ajomatka. Vaihtoehtoina oli kalliihko (halpa) taksi tai käytännössä ilmainen linja-auto. Tottakai kun täällä ollaan ja paikallinen elämäntapa on myös yksi asia, johon haluan tutustua, me mentiin bussilla. Oli kuuma ja istuimet oli huonot, mutta tulipahan koettua. Kahdesti, mennessä ja tullessa. :)
Vaihtoehtoina minulla oli kotimajoitus Yandin perheen luona tai hotellihuone. Päädyin kotimajoitukseen, joka osoittautui oikein mukavaksi kokemukseksi. Ainoa miinus oli kielimuuri, mutta onneksi Yandi oli paikalla tulkkina. Yandi oli lainannut kaveriltaan moottoripyörän, jolla käytiin vähän kiertelemässä nähtävyyksiä ja pikkukyliä ennen pimeän tuloa. Iltaa istuttiin Yandin kavereiden kanssa niitä näitä jutellen ja ennen nukkumaanmenoa käytiin vielä kiipeämässä kukkulan rinteellä olevan kirkon luokse, josta oli upeat näkymät Lembe Campis kylän ja Bitungin yli. Aamulla kierreltiin vielä hetki kylää, ennenkuin oli aika lähteä kohti Bitungia ja Manadoa, jotta ehditään vielä ostoksille ja Living Coloursin veneelle takaisin Bunakenille. :)

Seuraava reissu Bunakenin ulkopuolelle oli viime keskiviikkona, kun lähdimme sukeltamaan Bangkan saarelle, Lähtö oli aikaisin aamulla, sillä matkaan menee kaksi tuntia. Perillä käytiin sukeltamassa kolme sukellusta, saitit oli Batu Sahaung, Batu Mandi ja Paradise Jety, jotka oli aivan erilaisia kuin Bunakenilla. Bunakenilla on pääasiassa koralliseinämää tai hiekkapohjaa. Bangkalla oli vähän kylmempi vesi ja saitit oli kalliolohkareita, joilla oli valtava määrä pehmeää korallia tai todellista muckia, eli pohja pöllyää ja näkyvyys katoaa välittömästi,jos potkaiset pohjaa päin.
Paluumatka oli toiset kaksi tuntia, mutta vähän ennen kuin päästiin perille, satuttiin ajamaan ohi delffiiniparvesta. Siihen me siten jäätiin hetkeksi ihailemaan, kun delffiini ui veneen rinnalla leikkien, hyppien ja loikkien! Kruunasi ehdottomasti koko reissun!
Nyt vaan odottelen seuraavaa mahdollisutta päästä pois Bunakenilta, vaikka ei saaressa mitään vikaa ole. Ehkäpä menen seuraavalla kerralla Lembehille sukeltamaan!

Life outside Bunaken?
Bunaken is a lovely island. But sometimes it's nice to go somewhere else. I've had two separate days off, when I went to Manado to do some shopping. Theres nothing special, just a normal Asian small city with a lot of oppotunists, all the time you can hear someone shouting "Hello mister, I love you!" or someone asking, if they can have a photo with the bule, the tourist.

And really, while visiting Manado I didn't have any time to do anything else than shopping groceries and stuff. So in the beginnig of the month I took a couple days off and went to Lembeh island!
Since I've got here I've been talking about that I want to go and see other places than just Bunaken and Manado. Yandi, the bartender and the Jack of all trades At Living Colours told me that I could join him to Lembeh when he is going there to visit his family.
So in the beginning of November we had the chance to take off. First we had to travel from Manado to Bitung, which is about two hours drive. We could take an expensive (cheap) taxi or a bus that's basically free. So when I'm here, I of course want to experience the local way of life, so we took the bus. It was hot and the seats was really bad, but I did it. Twice, to Bitung and back. :)
When we went to Lembeh I could choose between home stay with Yandis family or a hotel room. I ended up with home stay, which was a really nice experience. The only downside was the language barrier, but luckily Yandi was there to translate. Yandi borrowed a motorbike from his friend so we could go for some sightseeing before the sunset. In the evening we were spending time with Yandis friends and before going to sleep we climbed up to a hill with a lovely sight over the village Lembe Campis and Bitung. In the morning we went walking around the village for a while before it was time to head towards Bitung and Manado, so we would have time to do some shopping and catch Living Colours boat to Bunaken. :)
Next trip outside Bunaken was last wednesday, when we went diving to Bangka island. We left early in the morning, because it's a two hour journey to get there. We did three dives in Bangka, the sites were Batu Sahaung, Batu Mandi and Paradise Jety, which were totally different to the Bunaken dive sites. In Bunaken area you have mostly wall and muck dives. On Bangka the water was colder and the sites had huge boulders with a lot of soft coral and also real muck sites, where the visibility is gone straight away if you fin towards the bottom. |
