Kiirettä pitää Thaimaassa!

Nyt on reilu kuukausi takana Thaimaassa! Ja mikäpäs täällä on ollessa. Ao Nang on mukava ja monipuolinen paikka, tekemistä löytyy joka lähtöön. Kiirettä on pitänyt tavalla tai toisella kokoajan. Sukellusta, perhettä, ystäviä, pieniä reissuja..

Äiti tuli tänne kylästelemään kolmeksi viikoksi joulun aikaan. Olihan meillä mukavaa. Käytiin pieniä reissuja, kuten uutena vuotena kaksi yötä läheisellä Koh Jumin saarella. Ajatuksena oli, että jossakin pitää lähteä käymään sinä aikana, kun äiti on täällä. Vaihtoehtoina oli mm. Singapore, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Lipe. Loppujen lopuksi päädyttiin Koh Jumille, joka on vain vajaan tunnin matkan päässä Ao Nangista. Muihin kohteisiin olisi mennyt matkoihin liian pitkä aika ottaen huomioon, että tarkoitus oli tehdä vain kahden yön reissu.

Koh Jum on paratiisisaari. Rauhalliset puhtaat rannat eikä liikaa turisteja. Mopolla pääsee näppärästi katselemaan paikallista elämää ympäri saarta. Koh Jum on juuri sitä, mitä Thaimaan pitäisi olla!

Koh Jumin reissua lukuun ottamatta olen vain käynyt läheisellä vesiputouksella sekä Emerald poolilla. Vielä olisi siis paljon kierreltävää :)

Lets go diving!

Sukellus täällä on aivan erilaista kuin Indonesiassa. Sen toki tiesin jo tänne tullessa, olenhan minä täällä sukeltanut paljon jo aiemmin. Paikallisilla saarilla näkyvyys vaihtelee päivästä toiseen ja voi olla mitä vain metrin ja viidentoista väliltä. Paikallisilla saarilla tuleekin etsittyä enemmän makroa, vaikka kyllä sieltä ne samat kilpikonnat ja mustapilkkahait löytyy kuin Phi Philtäkin, jossa tulee myös käytyä lähes viikottain.

Busy in Thailand!

I've already been in Thailand over a month! I like it here, Ao Nang is a nice and versatile, there's a lot you can do. The whole time I've been busy in a way or another. Diving, family, friends, small trips..

My mother came here to visit me in the Christmas time. We had a nice time together, we did small trips as on the New Year when we went to Koh Jum for two nights. We had in mind that we have to go somewhere while she's here. We had many alternatives, Singapore, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Lipe.. In the end we decided to go to Koh Jum, which is less than one travel away from Ao Nang. All the other destinations were too far away considering that we were only going to stay for two nights.

Koh Jum is an paradise island. Quiet and clean beaches and not crowded with tourists. You can explore the island and it's local life easily with a motorbike. Koh Jum is exactly what Thailand should be!

Except for the trip to Koh Jum, I've only been to a close by waterfall and the Emerald pool. So there is still a lot of places to visit :)

Diving here is totally different than in Indonesia. I already knew that when I came as I've been diving here many times before. The visibility is changing from day to day on the local islands and it can be anything between one and fifteen meters. That's why we try to concentrate on macro, even though you can find the turtles and blacktip reef sharks too. Phi Phi is better for the big stuff, I go there almost every week.
